When couples are engaged, a few things happen. First, an eruption occurs on social media with hundreds sending well wishes. The second thing is highlighting the engagement with an engagement shoot. Not any engagement shoot. What about an Aladdin engagement shoot at DC Venue Darcy Hotel?
I’ve seen DC engagement shoots range from a simple outdoor look to a black tie look at monuments.
Lastly, couples want to celebrate their marriage engagement with a party. This is a more elaborate affair that hints at what their wedding will look like.
Have you ever thought about combining an engagement shoot and engagement party?
For Shenae and Isaiah we had the opportunity to do just that. Before I tell you how we came up with the design of this affair, let me first introduce you to the wonderful couple.
I met Shenae on Facebook when we decided to bestow a complimentary engagement shoot upon a couple. Little did they know, we were doing more than a simple shoot. I asked a simple question, can you tell me your love story. Here is what Shenae replied with.
DC Couple Love Story
“I was married for 4 years and we had two kids together. Unfortunately, I was cheated on multiple times in my marriage to the point where all trust was gone even though he claimed to change. I tried so hard to make my marriage work for the sake of my children that I lost myself. It’s hard going from a marriage to being single especially with children. Then I met this guy who I’d known of for a while but, never really talked to.
We started to talk. He moved to Florida and I lived in Virginia but we went to high school together so I thought long distance wouldn’t last. He up and moved to Virginia to be with my kids and me and for the past almost two years we’ve been making things work. He’s been everything I’ve needed in my life plus more.
My family and I went to Florida to visit for a couple of days. I took my son to Disney for his 5th birthday. During this time, Isaiah asked me to marry him. I’ve been glowing ever since. Just to say that even when you’re at the lowest point in life and you feel like you’re alone and too broken to fix, there’s always going to be that person that makes you realize why things didn’t go right the first time.”
Due to her story and her triumph, we selected her. Almost too hard to look past.
DC Engagement Theme
Here’s why the Aladdin engagement party idea worked well with Shenae and Isaiah.
Because the couple was engaged on their Disney trip, we wanted to provide something that would be along the lines of that. Aladdin kept popping in my head due to the movie being released this year. Creating a seductive and sultry theme with an Arabian twist made the most sense to us. The Darcy Hotel served as our DC engagement party venue.
Most noteworthy, the engagement party décor gave the couple the elegance they wanted while also bringing back memories to their time at Disney World. We wanted guests to walk into the room and feel as if they had been taken to another place. The goal was to not make the room to feel like a venue.
To achieve this goal, we brought in palm trees from Plants Alive to bring in an outdoor vibe. BCG Events created lush centerpieces that were exotic and captivating. We further pushed the imagination by using props from Sarah Khan Styling. They have the perfect inventory of elephants, lanterns, standing candles and Arabian stands.
Even more I wanted to bring in larger props. I also had to have items that the guests would in fact touch and feel. Table top items from Panache by Lola gave us geometric shapes that didn’t remind guests of traditional looking china and flatware.
The Cake
Consequently, I’m a huge cake fan so I recommended a visually appealing a cake around the theme. Blue Lace Cakes created a multi-layered cake that could easily grab attention. Due to their creativity, they made sure the cake would help light up the room by turning the cake into a lantern.
In conclusion, this themed concept was truly something to appeal to couples who prefer a themed engagement party. Thousands of couples are engaged at Disney World. This was another way to bring childhood stories to life for this DC engagement party.
